SM NBTC | Nonoy Leads Hustle to NBTC All-Star Game, 94-86



PASAY CITY – Team Hustle emerged as the winner of the 2019 Chooks To Go National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Division I All-Star Game as they subdued Team Heart, 94-86, at the packed Mall of Asia Arena Saturday.  Mark Nonoy of the University of Santo Tomas shone brightest in the fourth period to lift his side to the victory.


With Team Heart ahead, 76-75, Nonoy began his one-man scoring barrage by knocking in Team Hustle’s next 14 points.  He ended his spree with a triple that upped their lead to an unassailable seven with 34 seconds remaining, 89-82.


Nonoy led all scorers with 16 of his 23 points in the fourth period to go with five rebounds.  RJ Abarrientos of Far Eastern University drained three triples for 13 points and eight rebounds in support.


Jalen Green engaged Nonoy in a fourth period scoring duel by hitting 11 of his 19 points on top of 12 rebounds.  Kai Ballungay was next with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Earlier, Division II celebrated their All-Star Game with Team Dedication defeating Team Passion, 98-89.  Mctroi Crisostomo of Holy Trinity College of General Santos was named as Most Outstanding Player with 17 points and six rebounds.


In the side events, Green and David Carlos shared the Slam Dunk title.  Carlos slammed two balls but Green earned the same perfect 50-point score by spinning the ball around his waist.

John Erolon of Saint Louis Don Bosco of Dumaguete City ruled the Three-Point Shootout by beating Ethan Galang of Filam Sports in the finals, 16-13.  Jasper Rentoy of Auspinoy beat out Carl Tamayo of Nazareth School of National University for the Skills Challenge trophy.
