All eyes were on the next generation basketball stars as they showcased their skills at the recently concluded Chooks-to-Go NBTC League, presented by SM, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

UST’s Mark Nonoy and NU’s Gerry Abadiano raised the flags of their respective teams as they notched wins at the Chooks-to-Go NBTC All-Star Game and League preliminaries at the Mall of Asia Arena. Nonoy sealed the game with a score of 94-85 while Abadiano scored 16 out of his 23 points in the fourth quarter – giving him the Most Outstanding Player title. “I was nervous and thrilled to be able to play in the exhibition alongside high school standouts Kai Sotto, Jalen Green and Gerry Abadiano. It was a dream come true for me,” Abadiano said.

The National U Bullpups continued their winning streak as they clinched this year’s championship title for the second year in a row. Fresh from a good run in the UAAP, the team brought the house down with super scores throughout the game headlined by amateurs Carl Tamayo, Terrence Fortea, and Gerry Abadiano. “Everything naa a-achieve namin, sobrang saya kami,” said Bullpups coach Goldwin Monteverde on their historical NBTC win. “Every tournament naman, we really prepare kaya masaya kami for this.”

The NU Bullpups ended the match with a 95-83 score against the La Salle Greenies – the first team to clinch championship titles for two years in a row in the 12-year history of the NBTC Nationals.

Fortea, Abadiano, LSGH’s Joshua David, FEU’s RJ Abarrientos and San Beda’s Rhayyan Amsali, the hailed members of the Mythical Five, were among the notable players in the game while another Red Cub in Tony Ynot was given the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Making this year’s league an exceptional one, players from the global basketball court flew in to join the 2019 Chooks-to-Go NBTC League. Participating international teams are FilAm Sports USA, Durham Crossover Canada, AusPinoy Australia, Camp David New Zealand, Italy Europe Proudly Pinoy, Top Flight Hoops Vancouver.
