ESPN | Jalen Green, David Carlos end up as NBTC co-dunk champs

By Charmie Lising

Jalen Green and David Carlos emerged as co-champions in the 2019 Chooks-to-Go NBTC Slam Dunk Contest on Saturday.

The high-leaping stars made the crowd at the Mall of Asia Arena roar as they showcased their hops and athleticism.

Former NBA champion Metta World Peace judged the event, alongside Kobe Paras, Ricci Rivero, Dylan Ababou, and Joshua Munzon.

Both Green and Carlos received perfect scores in the final dunk-off.

Carlos brought out a ladder and dunked two balls simultaneously, while Green responded with a vicious behind-the-back jam.

The two dunkers put on an impressive battle in the championship round.

Carlos slammed the ball over four people while wearing a World Peace jersey before unleashing his scorpion dunk.

Green, on the other hand, made a two-handed jam followed by a between-the-legs throwdown assisted by the Chooks mascot.

Kai Ballungay of FilAm Sports USA and viral dunker Darwin Cantong also participated in the dunk competition.

Meanwhile, John Erolon of St. Louis of Don Bosco-Dumaguete won the Three-Point Shootout, beating Ethan Galang of FilAm Sports USA, Jerric Palma of Top Flight Hoops-Vancouver, Jordan Perez of Camp David-New Zealand, Jason Diaz of Durham Crossover-Canada, Luigi Cuevas of Italy Europe Proudly Pinoy, Jarred Lao of La Salle Green Hills, and Angelo Cacho of University of Baguio.

Jasper Rentoy of AusPinoy topped the Skills Challenge, besting Carl Tamayo of Nazareth School of National University, RJ Abarrientos of FEU-Diliman, Kai Sotto and Geo Chiu of Ateneo, Ladis Lepalam of LSGH, Reimar Cruz of Camp David-New Zealand, and Robert Norombaba of Dolores National HS-Eastern Samar.
