COURTSIDE | Fil-Am Jalen Green set for Philippine Return as 6 Intn'l Teams Join NBTC

Updated: Nov 6, 2019

Filipino-American Jalen Green is set for a return in Manila to lead FilAm Sports USA, one of the six international teams that will join the 2019 Chooks-to-Go SM-NBTC National Finals next week.

The prolific 17-year old guard is expected to once again provide the highlight reel for the event set on March 18 - 24 at the MOA Arena. Green impressed last year after his dazzling display of his offensive arsenal capped by several highlight dunks in their Quarterfinals loss against eventual champions NU Bullpups. Green also put on a show after dunking over 7’2” Ateneo center Kai Sotto.

Green is born to Filipina mother Racquel Purganan and American Father Marcus Green.

The 6’5” from California introduced his brand of play to Filipino hoops fans last year by exploding for record-51 points in the NBTC history. The ‘comebacking’ Green though has vastly improved for his return with several international stints under his belt. He led Team USA to top the FIBA U17 World Cup in Argentina which eventually enabled him to grab the Most Valuable Player award on the same tournament. He averaged 15.7 points a game for Team USA despite coming off the bench.

Green is currently making waves for  San Joaquin Memorial but has announced his transfer to Prolific Prep Acadamy. Green headlines the class of 2020, getting interests from several top US NCAA Division 1 schools including Oklahoma State, Creighton and UCLA.

Green’s FilAm Sports USA will be joining five other international teams for the 32-team event. The five other teams are Durham Crossover Canada, AusPinoy Australia, Camp David New Zealand, Team Italy Europe Basketball and Top Flight Hoops Vancouver.
