A Filipino-American high school student has being called the ‘next Kobe Bryant’ because of his impressive skills on the basketball court.
Jalen Green, 16, a sophomore student at San Joaquin Memorial High School in California, has showcased his skills in the National Basketball Training Centre (NBTC) National League in the Philippines, ABS-CBN Sports reported. The Sacramento Bee has called Green ‘the next Kobe Bryant.’
“Being compared to Kobe, I think it’s amazing. It’s a lot of weight on my shoulders, but it’s great,” Green said.
Green, whose mother is Filipino and who has family in Ilocos Sur, played alongside basketball team FilAm Sports-USA in the NBTC National League. It was his first visit to the Philippines.
He said basketball in the Philippines is different as the gameplay is more intense. “It’s very soft in the US compared to here. I like it better here because it’s more competitive,” he said.
